Book Review: "We are What We Eat: A Slow Food Manifesto" by Alice Waters

We are What We Eat: A Slow Food Manifesto encompasses many of my thoughts about food. Alice Waters shares her experiences as a Montessori educator and later the creator of restaurant Chez Panisse to discuss the tenets of Slow Food. Before doing so she discusses the tenets of fast food, tenets that I have applied to other topics such as fitness and health. The tenets of fast food are qualities that have been ingrained into our bodies from birth through advertising and society’s priority of profit over people. This is certainly not radical but can be utilized for leftist discussions on community building, sustainability, and future planning. It’s an easy read that makes a bunch of sense. Everyone will learn something from this book and everyone should share it with their loved ones.
