October Roundup

Yeah as someone purported to be always critical never amused simply I do not have the time, energy, or money to dress up for one day out of the year. If you want to be a communist, commit year round, and stop using a catabolized holiday as a safety blanket [a joke]. We are witnessing society become reborn, nothing and everything matters.
Film Bro Corner
There doesn't seem to be many new releases this month that are compelling me to stay out after dark so I watched a lot of oldies for the first time to continue to ground myself in the art form.
Subscribing to the Criterion Channel, they uploaded some of the Universal Monster movies from the early 1930's to 1950's. I've never seen them before so I watched some of them. I did enjoy some of their camp and queerness. The one I was most fond of was The Invisible Man(1933). It was less scary and more mischievous. I think the focus more was pulling off the feat of an invisible man rather than doing a psychological analysis of his mental downfall as the film goes on as we do now in the present day. It ended in tragedy, but it was just a fun film to experience.
Though the new releases weren't as full as September, I did make it out to see a few that looked interesting to me:
Click the titles to read the reviews and peruse the other flicks I've been watching. (Serious thoughts on Triangle of Sadness might not pop up for a day or two just so you know)
Rémy Reads (and writes?)
The fate of an avid book reader is the never-ending stack of books to read. I picked up more books this month from Salem. Witchy books and zines. One of my bosses let me borrow a book on the Salem witch trials that she hasn't gotten around to reading.
I have a musing on my trips to Salem over the past month or so coming up soon.
I sent out a book review earlier today I had in the drafts for weeks. Must be that perfectionism creeping up.
Podcast Puddle (Weariness leads to a lack of creativity)
Pod Damn America
I've already mentioned this pod, they had an episode this month that was entertaining and made me think about the future of community policing and what could be. (This Soundcloud embed is massive, was not expecting that)
Worst Week Yet
Pretty obvious from the title, this podcast talks about some of the wildest things that have occurred over the previous week with a comedic leftist spin. One of the hosts guest spoke on the episode I shared above and that brought me to this. It's a nice roundup of things that you might see on mainstream media or twitter. What's great about it is that you can just listen to this instead swimming through the noise of extremely bad takes online.

General Updates
IG Deletion
I did mention this morning my Instagram account unceremoniously got deleted/disabled. This happened to a few thousand all over the world, affecting up to 5% of total accounts. It's funny that it occurred the day I finally had room to breathe and work on diversifying where I engage on the internet. It's moments like these in addition to all the nonsense with Elon Musk that remind us that these wealthy people do not care about us or our business or the communities we try to create. That's why it's important to have backups or alternative spaces to connect and organize. I've been working on that through as well as other spaces.
I'll share in another post which corners of the internet I'm occupying. Also, I will share more updates on my other newsletters as they come.
My First Paid Subscriber
Love to see it. I appreciate that so much. As we enter the colder less touristy months, my second job has had to vastly cut its hours of operations which means poof goes up to 55% of my income. I've been searching and applying to third jobs. However, even if they go to the next step with me, I won't be receiving that pay until December so some of next month is going to be character developing and I would appreciate the support.
I will say the never-ending wheel of work, (upcoming) winter, and (fluctuating) worry, makes me feel very tired. Perhaps some of these extra days without work will allow me to recharge and schedule things and actually vibe before I work multiple hours and days once again.
Alright Alright sending this out so I can stop agonizing over it. See you soon.
